Performed by Southshire Community School on December 19, 2019 at the Visual and Performing Arts Center of Bennington College.
This was the thirty-second Winter Play in the school’s history. The Winter Play is a long-standing tradition at Southshire, one of two theatrical performances each year. In November and May, students’ focus shifts from academics to performance. The entire student community, from the youngest to the oldest students, work together to develop and produce the play. They design and sew their costumes, create sets and props, and, of course, practice lines.
Join Alice in her journey down the rabbit hole as she meets a seemingly unending cast of unique creatures in a slew of fantastical settings. You’ll recognize familiar names and themes from this work that have become the stuff of popular culture. From the White Rabbit to the Cheshire Cat, and from the Mad Hatter to the Queen of Hearts, this story is full of characters that the students have enjoyed getting to know and be.
