Old Castle Theatre, 331 Main St, Bennington, VT.

Public welcome.

Free.

Southshire Community School students hard at work preparing for this year’s winter play, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Each year the students produce two plays.

Southshire will stage an adaptation of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as their Winter Play on Wednesday, December 19 at 7 PM at the Old Castle Theatre.

Join young Charlie Bucket on his visit to Mr. Wonka’s fantastical chocolate factory after he finds the 5th and final golden ticket for a tour of the newly re-opened plant. Marvel at the work of the Oompa-Loompas as Charlie and his companions tour the factory and succumb to their sweet-toothed temptations one by one.  All except for one.  But, why has Mr. Wonka re-opened the factory and why has he invited five lucky guests to visit?

The Winter Play is a long-standing tradition at Southshire.  This will be the thirty-first Winter Play in the school’s history.  Early each winter and late each spring the students’ interest shifts from academic studies towards creativity and social interaction as they work on two productions each year. The entire student community, from the youngest to the oldest students, work together to develop and produce the play. They design and sew their costumes, create sets and props, and, of course, practice lines.

The performance will take place at 7 PM at the Old Castle Theatre at 331 Main Street in Bennington. The public are welcome, and the event is free.
